Goal

To train personnel in Footwear Designing and manufacture for development of the leather industry.

Objectives

  • To equip Footwear Designers and manufacturers with knowledge and skills necessary to undertake assignments on full shoe making techniques which includes designing, pattern cutting, closing, and drafting methods.
  • To provide opportunities to secondary school graduates for advancement in the field of shoe design and manufacture.
  • Provide the public and private sectors with personnel knowledgeable and skilled in Footwear design and manufacture.

Certificate in Footwear Design and Technology

Duration of the Programme

The course duration is 1180 hours, including 280 hours of Industrial attachment. This will be covered in one academic year of two semesters.  Each semester consists of 15 weeks of course work.

Admission requirements

  1. Holders of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with an aggregate of D+ and Chemistry D
  2. Holders of KCE/EACE with a Division III.
  3. Holders of an “A” level certificate.
  4. Any relevant qualification from institutions recognized by the Institute Examination Council.
