AHITI-Kabete Explores Global Horizons: A Milestone Visit to the High Commission of Canada in Kenya

AHITI Kabete is excited to share highlights from an impactful engagement held on 27th February 2026, where the Management team was graciously hosted by the High Commission of Canada in Kenya at their Nairobi offices. The Management team comprised of Dr. Samuel G. Mugo (Principal), Dr. Dennis Nyakundi (Deputy Principal) Mrs. Dorcas Inoti (Registrar) and Ms. Cecilia Musembi (Head of ICT Department)

Our meeting with Ian McGrath, Lead on Labour Mobility Team, Kelvin Murerwa, Trade Lead and Stephen Musa, Migration Office | Bureau de migration, was both eventful and highly informative. The engagement at the High Commission provided a platform to showcase the excellence of AHITI-Kabete’s training programs and to discuss how the graduates can contribute to key sectors in Canada.

Strengthening the Livestock Value Chain

The core of our discussion centered on Labor Mobility and the growing demand for skilled talent across Canada’s livestock sector landscape. We were encouraged to witness a strong alignment between the Institute’s curricula —specifically in animal health, livestock production, and meat processing and value chain management—and the specific competencies required in the Canadian labor market.

Key takeaways from the engagement included; AHITI Kabete’s practical orientation and hands-on training approach are recognized as a perfect fit for Canada’s emerging talent needs and future engagements will build a foundation for future partnerships that could create clear, professional pathways for the graduates. Beyond labor mobility, we discussed broader institutional collaboration that will benefit both the livestock sector in Kenya and the trade goals of the Canadian team.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to High Commission of Canada and the broader Labour Mobility Team for the warm hospitality and the insightful dialogue. This visit was about more than just a meeting; it was about laying the groundwork for a partnership that connects Kenyan expertise with international opportunities. At AHITI-Kabete, we are committed to ensuring our graduates are not only local leaders but global achievers in the livestock sector.

Stay tuned as we continue to foster these vital international collaborations!
